Accommodations

Just 35 minutes from MSP airport is the historic town of Stillwater, located on the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. Along Stillwater's charming streets, you'll find over 100 independently owned shops, galleries, and restaurants. La Pointe, the wedding venue, is a 20-minute drive from Stillwater. Because our wedding is taking place on a busy holiday weekend and Stillwater is a popular destination, we highly recommend booking your lodging as soon as possible. <a href="https://hotelcrosby.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Hotel Crosby</a> is a modern hotel with a rooftop hot tub on the north end of Main Street. It's onsite restaurant and bar, Matchstick, was voted one of the top 100 whiskey bars in America.<a href="https://www.lorahotel.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Lora</a> is a boutique hotel on the south end of Main Street. It has an onsite coffee shop, bar, and restaurant where you'll find the award-winning Feller burger.<a href="https://waterstreetinn.us" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Water Street Inn</a> is a historic, Victorian hotel that has a restaurant, Irish pub, and rooftop bar. We recommend requesting a renovated tower room with balcony (rather than a room in the historic building). Stillwater also has numerous bed and breakfast options, as well as rental homes and condos. <a href="https://discoverstillwater.com/lodging-in-still-waters/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Stillwater tourism site</a> is a great place to start; be sure to select the "downtown" filter if you want to be within walking distance of the local attractions.

The Velveteen Speakeasy – If you want to sip a craft cocktail and see where we first met, this is the place!Howard's Bar – Our favorite place in Stillwater for lunch. Bar classics done very well.MatchStick – Located in the Crosby Hotel with patio seating, a great option for happy hour.Domacin – A classy wine bar with Mediterranean appetizers and entrées.Victoriano's Pizza – If you need a snack, this counter-service spot has the best slices of New York-style pizza.Oasis Cafe – Serves food all day, but they're known for breakfast. You'll likely have to wait for a table, it's worth it!

Outings & Activities

If you want to experience one of the largest state fairs in the U.S., we recommend visiting the <a href="https://www.mnstatefair.org" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">2026 Minnesota State Fair</a>! If you're staying in downtown Stillwater, these options are all within walking distance:River Siren Brewing - This is a low-key spot with craft brews, pub snacks, and a nice view from the patio.Brown's Creek Trail - Take a stroll on this 6-mile paved trail, part of the historic Gateway Trail connecting the St. Croix River Valley to downtown St. Paul.Stillwater Historic Trolley Tour - Learn about the birthplace of Minnesota in this 45-minute tour done in a restored trolley. If you want to experience early fall in Minnesota and are up for a short drive, we recommend:10 minute drive: Aamodt's Apple Farm - Pick apples, sample hard cider and hop on a wagon ride at this family-run apple orchard.20 minute drive: Rustic Roots Winery - Follow the river north and you'll find this scenic vineyard overlooking the valley.35 minute drive: Taylor's Falls Canoe and Kayaks - Enjoy the famous bluffs and cliffs of Taylors Falls as you meander down the river.
